Default Newbe needs some advice.

Hello Brethren, I am planning on building a Big Baby Double-Barreled Cooker, I would love to build something a bit more stout but itís just not in the budget. Iíve got a connection on free drums, my buddy has a plasma cutter and welds. Iím thinking my total out of pocket will be under $100 (in my budget). My question is, am I wasting my time and should I wait until I can build something stout, or will this smoker work for a newbe?

for about the same money with two barrels, you could make 2 UDS's, and they are awesome cookers.... Check out the UDS thread if you have not already... By the way welcome to the Brotherhood!

You really can't beat the bang for the buck that a UDS delivers!

Big Babys are notorious for being serious fuel hogs. You would be far ahead of the game both financially and in frustration if you built a pair of UDS's

I have always wanted to make and have a DBS. But, since I've built my UDS, I have to say that for the versatility, money, and portability, I'm not sure I wouldn't look into doing 2 drums. Since you can get 2 racks on one UDS, there's probably more cooking space on 2 drums. I take mine with me lots of times too. Depending on your skill level, though, you can do some pretty cool stuff with the DBS.
