I really love the last 3 turkeys I have smoked. And maybe I should leave well enough alone. But I can't help but wonder how much flavor would be added (and if it would be a good flavor) if I added some beer to my brine. Currently, my brine is:
1 cup Kosher Salt 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup home made rub (what I usually use on brisket and butts) And then I stuff with: 1 Fuji apple cubed 1 clove of elephant garlic 1/2 onion quartered I also truss the bird. I saw this thread: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/ar.../t-105435.html Not sure I want to add the barley malt, but I was thinking of beer. I was thinking of adding what is in the fridge (Shiner Bock). just not sure if it would do anything or not. Has anyone here tried Shiner in a brine? This is for a Thanksgiving bird so I would hate to screw it up... Thoughts, Comments? Thanks Y'all Brent |

My normal thoughts would be adding beer to whatever makes whatever taste better
But after that thread last week on brining, which had this link it it, I'm not sure it'd be worth the effort. You could always test it out and post back to us

That is a depressing article. I don't want to hear that all of the work I have been doing may not be yielding the results. Now I am going to have to smoke 2 turkeys for thanksgiving so I can compare.
