Thanks for sharing the cornbread recipe - that cake like texture is amazing...not a huge fan of a fist full of crumbs.

BINGO! Bo , I got a NC style Hoe-down planned later this month. I'am smokin' Beer can Butt Yard birds and was thinking smoker corn bread. In my neck of the woods we call it Johnny cakes when cut into squares.

Is there any way to get a hint of smoke into the bread?

If you cook it indirect in a smoker, there shouldn't be any trouble getting a little smoke into it. You could also add a little diced, sauteed bacon to the mix. That's a tasty option too.
