Default CL score - folks you'll be proud

So late last night I see a Weber cart on craigslist, but no picture.
I texted him and he was surprised that the picture wasn't attached, so he e-mailed it to me. I made an offer and he accepted, so I drove 5 minutes from work at lunch today to pick up what I believe is a late 60's Seville.

I feel bad for the person from Chicago (1.5 hours away) who called inquiring when I was in his driveway.

I believe this is a holy grail, only through the research gained here. Thanks All!

Was $50 a steal?

That is awesome, but it looks to me like the kettle is a newer one set in the Seville cart. The pics I've seen do not show the bottom of the kettle having the leg sockets.

I've been getting shafted a lot lately. A guy was supposed to hold the bandera a week while my broken bones healed and ended up selling it. Similar story with a stainless performer last week.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus, the kettle doesn't sit fully in the cart because of the handles.

Still, I think $50 is a score!

It looks like the original kettle didn't have handles or the leg sockets.

I would bet the original kettle had tabs on the outside of the bowl that held it in the opening of the cart, like the tabs on the Imperial Sequoia bowl.

Still, nice score.

Thanks everyone for confirming that I made the right move. I just smuggled it into the shed after wifey went to work and kids are in bed. I will probably drop a kettle in it for a month or so and figure out how much the sand blasting will cost, and save up. Any estimates? There is a U-Spray near by, but boy there are a lot of nooks and crannies. I could do a wire wheel, but there are a few coats of paint and rust. Can I just hit the rust and preserve it for the time being?

So many times I gave some of these thing second thoughts, but I decided to Pounce.

This forum rocks!
