Default Woo-Hoo! Scored a used Good-One Smoker!

I've been dreaming of getting a smaller backyard smoker for the past year and the Good-One Open Range seemed to fit that bill, except for the price tag ($1,200.00+, not including sales tax). So I've been keeping an eye on Craigs list and finally found one I was able to get for $600.00. Other than a little scrubbing, and then some sanding and touch-up paint in the near future, it's in perfect condition. All moving parts move, and the pans & body is straight. What more could I ask for?

Thanks to the fellow BBQ'er up in KC that sold it to me for (IMHO) a more than fair price!

Tomorrow night is chicken night on the Weber Kettle, along with some home made slaw and ABT's.

Nice score. I've heard those smokers are amazing at holding temps. Congrats!

Sounds like a good deal. I like the concept of the GO smoker. Is it a simple baffle between the grill area and the smoke chamber? Curious if you need an even fire side-to-side along the grill to get even heat side-to-side on the smoke racks.

Yeah, it's simply an iron bar in the that's about 6" wide and runs the entire length of the smoker, and when open, there's plenty of smoke & heat getting through. Temp control is supposed to be real good with these, although the seller did say that it tends to run hotter on the left side. I assume that's because the ash pan doesn't have an air tight fit. Maybe I can adjust that with some sort of asbestos string from a fireplace shop. I'm sure it's gonna take several bags of charcoal to figure out the heat distribution, and it might be a good time to invest in the Maverick ET-732.
