Man, did Pelletheads.com get Spanked! From the Penthouse to the Outhouse in a Month! Man, Virginia judges did not like California, New Jersey, North Carolina & South Carolina BBQ today...Boy Howdy!

I was a table captain at the comp and I can tell you that some very experienced judges were there. Some of them even I think are BBQ snobs. This comp was a competition of champs, for sure. It was a tough field to do well in.

Unfortunately, it was the last Cue & Cruz. The economy and other opportunities did it in. But, it had a great run and has been one of the premier competitions in the state. Any team that placed in this comp should be very proud.

The organizer, Bill Small, will be creating a new comp in Mineral, VA and it won't be named Cue & Cruz. He is also changing the date to a cooler time of year. So, there will still be a comp, it won't be Cue & Cruz and won't most likely be in July.

This might be a little premature (even though Bill made this announcement at the cook's meeting). Bill & I talked for a bit after awards and I'd say the prospect of Que and Cruz in July 2013 is better than 60%.

We'll see. He was pretty emphantic about the prospects of his parents filling up the camp sites that Cue & Cruz uses with workers building the new section of Lake Anna next year.

Friday I do not think a Yucatán jungle could have been more humid, but only high 80's, about a 10 minute mist around anything butt turn ins. Couple of rain bursts about 3am and 5am Saturday morning, then about 75° and overcast all day and into awards, it was very pleasent!
