Question Do BBQ Style Guidelines exist?

When started competing with my homemade beer I found the BJCP style Guidelines very helpful, since it told me what the judges would be looking for. Is there a comparable publication for KCBS competitions?

You mean Sriricha isn't one of the four basic food groups

No--sorry.
Also none for FBA.

Here is the closest thing to a style guide I think KCBS has.

The rules & the rep advisories.

I think the best way would be to take the KCBS Judging class. My father and I did that before we started competing and it made a difference for us.

I completely agree!!!! The only aspect of competition BBQ judging that has guidelines is the tenderness criteria. Both appearance and taste are subjective.

Take a judging class, it will be well worth your time and money.
