Default Digi Q Dx2 question

I am in the process of cooking my first H&F Boston. I controling and montoring my UDS with a DigiQ and an ET-732. I am using the provided attachments for each pit probe mounted in the same spot on the grill. The ET 732 is showing the pit temp 10-15* hotter than the DigiQ.

Here is my theory: The bracket for the ET 732 allows the probe to sit up off the rack while the alligator clip on the DigiQ connect directly to the grill. They are both set up within an inch from the meat. My thought is the meat is cooling the grill thereby causing the DigiQ to read cooler.

Have any of the Brethren experienced this? and how many have discontinued using the alligator clip or used an alligator clip on the ET 732 probe?

Very interested in your responses.

I have several different temp monitoring 'devices' - all of which read different temps. I have learned to just use my digi Q to get a good idea of what the temp is inside the cooker. From their, it doesn't need to be on within 5 or even 10 degrees. All meat is different and will be ready when its ready.
