Smokin' Ribs in the Rock

This cook-off will be held November 17-18 at the Arkansas State Fair Grounds--the largest event site in the state. It is the ONLY KCBS sanctioned contest that weekend, this side of Florida! It is also likely to be one of the last BBQ weekends this year! We are currently seeking proclamation to make this a “state championship” and we expect this to be final by the end of the week. The total prize money is $8,500. It will pay the Grand Champion $2,500 plus a trophy, the Reserve Grand Champion $1,250 plus a trophy and then pay out through 5th place.

Entry fees for this contest are a LOW $150 and each cook will receive the standard 20’ x 20’ space, t-shirt, and goodie bag. There will also be a great band Friday night for cooks! The Web site splash page is up now and you can get a registration form there. The site will be completed by next Thursday, so check smokinribsintherock.com soon.

Several of you have emailed me about why we weren't listed on the KCBS calendar site yet. They were having some technical difficulties, but we are now officially listed! You will also see there, that our governor's proclamation making it a state championship came through. Check it out at:
