WINNIPEG BBQ & BLUES FESTIVAL - Aug.17-19

Well it is official. Congratulations! The Winnipeg Barbeque and Blues Festival has been selected as one of the best BBQ contests in America, and 1 of the 20 stops on the 2012 Great American BBQ Tour, their first competition outside the USA.

Here is the prize breakdown for this year.

$10,000.00 prize payout as follows:
•Grand Champion - $2,500.00 and plaque + free entry to 2013
•Reserve Grand Champion - $1,200.00 and plaque
•3rd Place Overall - $500.00 and plaque

•1st place per category - $300.00 and plaque
•2nd place per category - $250.00 and plaque
•3rd place per category - $200.00 and plaque
•4th place per category - $175.00 and ribbon
•5th place per category - $150.00 and ribbon
•6th-10th place per category - $75.00 and ribbon

There is a new event in Vegas this year, to be held on November 3. They are inviting the 100 "Best" bbq teams in the world to compete for $50k in prizes.

Qualifying events were announced today, and they include:

Just thought I would also mention that the KCBS Reps for the competition are Bill & Debbie Gage. This is their 3rd year up here in Manitoba and they run a great competition. The competition is being set up on pavement and the first 18 teams will be placed under the "big top". There is a huge tent top structure that is 100'x 200' and this will keep the direct sun off as well as any unwanted rain. Promises to be a great time. With the Blues festival happening for both days and a huge "big rig" show and shine, there will be lots of things to do.
