Default WSM 3/8-inch probe grommet placement?

Greetings,

I received the 3/8-inch Cajun Bandit sensor grommets yesterday. According the Cajun Bandit's website, I will need to drill new holes to install them in my WSM. Cajun Bandit's installation PDF from their website (http://cajunbandit.com/grommet-installation.pdf) advises to drill 3/8-inch holes adjacent to the bolts that hold one of the rack supports in place. Why should I put them here? It seems to me if the grommets were placed as Cajun Bandit advises, the lower grommet would be in an inconveniently-low place. Wouldn't it be better to place them, as some farkers advise, two inches below the top rack and two inches apart?

Obviously, I don't want to drill unnecessary holes in my new WSM!

Thanks,
Little Dick

....if anyone has done grommet installation and has pictures, that'd be nice!

Not sure about your grommets, but the ones I got replaced the bolts holding the rack. I didn't need to drill anything. I can't remember where I got them from, but I'll check around to see if I can find them.

Thanks,

According to Cajun Bandit, who supplied my 3/8-inch grommets, I will need to drill holes...I am just wondering where on the cooker to do so?

I didn't go with the Cajun Bandit grommets - used the 3/8" lamp rod instead. I used the existing hole for the aluminum upper rack holder bolt - had to enlarge it slightly. That way there was no extra hole that had to be drilled. The lamp rod nut holds the aluminum piece without a problem.
