I just glanced at the reported results on the KCBS web site and it lists it as being 100% CBJ's. For the last five years that I have been doing this contest, the judging was done by members of the Elks lodge. No outside judges are brought in. I suspect that the reps, who have never done this contest before, did not realize this and just played the cd and went on their merry way without any cares.

In talking with several cooks afterwards, the 4,5, & 6's were plentiful and the comment cards nil. There is a real probabilty that I will give this contest a bye next year if the same reps do it. We need good consistent procedures for those contests that are using "1 contest a year judges" that are there to eat. Maybe someone on the competition committee will read this and take action.

I do believe that the BOD member who is the head of the Comp Committee was the Contest Rep for this event.

I'm told that only members can judge however, they have taken a CBJ class so they can be 100 percent.

LottaBull and Little Pig Town are rock solid teams and they proved that by knowing how to make the adjustments to win with the judges they had.

These two teams totally impressed me with this technique. It reminds me of Race Drivers who have to change up their game from Track to Track.

Just that the only practice round they can get will be prior years events/resluts.

Coming off of three good runs, I'm ok with my "reality check" I need to learn to keep cooking my product consistent and it will take care of itself.

Look at the rest of the field, especially the 9th, 14th, 18th, 19th, & 24th teams, and tell me that they all had an off day.

I'm fully aware of who the rep was and was hoping someone on the committee might consider the transfer of knowledge from previous reps at a contest might be of benefit to the members who are competing. Some reps do it their way and the hell with reality.

Most took the class years ago, are there to just eat and only do one contest a year. Just saying.
