Default New paint job!

Just finished putting together our new char-griller. I turned it into a reverse flow with a couple of sheets of steel plate and lined the bottom with foil wrapped bricks. Finished with some high heat sealant, good quality thermometers, and a dryer vent to extend the stack. Since we have a Star Trek themed team my wife decided to give all our pits a new paint job! She used high heat paint on the metal, and she did the shelves with regular spray paint. They turned out great, and ready to go for next weekends competition!

can you elaborate on the reverse flow part, I was wondering how you did it without moving the exhaust to the same end as the firebox.

Well what I did was pretty easy. I attached the dryer vent to the stack with a circle clamp. Then I ran it along the top to another circle clamp I had bolted to the lid. Turned it down to the grates and used the bolt for the warming rack to secure it there. The vent does draw the smoke, I've done this twice now so I know it works! The only downside is not being able to have the warming rack in, but I have 3 of then so no big loss!! I'll take some pictures tomorrow and show you what it looks like.

Here is my reverse flow on the inside. The 2 larger steel plates are moveable. I put a water pan on the bricks on the open end. Everything is removable if I want to switch it back, but I don't think I ever will. I get about a 10 degree difference on the thermometers. I also made a charcoal basket out of expanded metal, which is able to move in the fire box about 2 inches on either side. The only thing I haven't fixed is the gaps around the sides and back, but I'll just make up something from foil.
