It was rumored that the show would be filming in Tupelo in two weeks, but everything was hush. I just got the Team Information Letter, and the BBQ Pitmasters logo is clearly listed on the letter. Looks like there will be something going on there!

Does that mean that you are one of the teams for this year's BBQ Pitmasters??

Not at all. I am one of the 70+ teams who is competing in Tupelo. It would appear that BBQ Pitmasters will be there filming some of the teams competing, but I don't know any more than that.

Side note, DMP, whats your team name? I have a team member that lives there.. We cooked this one last year when it was MBN, aren't this year, but are probably going to go visit. Reason we aren't doing it this year is the KCBS switch, we've never seen it.. Would love to learn more about how KCBS does it & if you wanted a friendly visitor for a little while, we provide beers! haha.

No problem! We are The Q-Team. No idea where we'll be among 80-ish teams, and we don't have a banner, but feel free to find us and come by! Visitors are almpst-always welcomed. There's a two hour window on Friday and other on Saturday where that's not the case, but you'll get the hang of it ;-) I lived in Memphis for years and have spent considerable time around MBN and MIM. By all means, stop by. I'm Daniel, and my partner is Jesse!

I haven't seen many new teams sign on since the phone calls were supposedly made.we are the Lang team and will set up with the pitmasters crew on Wednesday.for what im not real sure.i was not picked to be onthere show.we are also sponsoring the event and someone will have a chance to win a new smoker.good luck to all.

I haven't bothered to ask Bev, but it wouldn't surprise me if the list on the website is incomplete. She told me early on that they had room for 80 teams, maybe more. There are currently 73 teams on the list. Maybe they decided they didn't have that much room, maybe they haven't updated the website, or maybe there are 7 spots taken up by the Pitmasters crew and teams. *shrug*

It doesn't really matter to us. We aren't on the show and will be there to try to take part in the $14,000 purse. I think it's gonna be hard enough being our first outing of the year and going against some of the best in the country who have already been out there competing. Good smokin' luck to the gameshow contestants, and I figured I'd let every one here know about it.

Some one said "Discovery Destinations," and I've heard it mentioned (Myron?) that it was going to be a new channel. My guess is a travel oriented network in the Discovery/TLC family.

Bev has told me that there are 80 teams. They haven't sorted them all out yet is what she told me between the entries mailed in and the ones done over the Internet. Not sure if that means they received more than 80 or not. But I was told 80 teams. Not real sure who they will be there filming since they said they wanted new faces.
