This was an interesting weekend! The wind was just crazy and made it seem much colder than it Really was. Saturday night was brutal. We were lucky that our neighbors at Bogyo's Mojo and Black and Blue BBQ had fire pits going. We brought our and a bunch of wood, but since theirs were already lit we brought our chairs and firewood and sat with them.

The birthday celebration for Angelo at Stockcar BBQ was a lot of fun and the food was excellent. Divemaster made a couple of huge hams and Q U Smokin Crew brought a nice spicy soup.

There were some power issues for a few folks. Our power went through a period of about an hour when it dropped 5 or 6 times. We have a battery backup for the pellet cookers but the power going up and down messed with the cook times on our chicken and ribs. I was able to get the ribs done by kicking up the temp, and we though that they were better than 22nd place, but the chicken was not pretty.

Dann and Diane, we missed you! I hope the truck is fixed and it didn't cost too much!

We had a great time! But man, it sure was windy. It really messed with my temps - but, that's just part of the game. We didn't rely on power too much, but like Ron mentioned, our circuit kept popping when the only thing plugged into it was a radio.

It was great to see and talk with a lot of familiar faces, like Porky Joes, J&S, Bogyo's Mojo, Hot Diggity and Bill Mehilos.

It was also really cool to see so many different set-ups and cookers.

Ron, I was going to stop by, but it always looked like you were in the middle of something and I didn't want to interrupt.

I understand and I appreciate your consideration. If I'm in the middle of something and some one comes by I let them know that I need 5 minutes to finish what I am doing and that they are welcome to wait. Unless it's in the middle of turn ins most tasks only take a few minutes and than i have time to relax or chat.

Congratulation to all that heard their names called and a big thank you to all who stopped over to help celebrate Angelo’s Birthday.

I think we had one of the better spots where the wind was concerned. We had enough wind breaks that all we had to worry about was loosing the Ez-up.

This was like a start of season competition for us. We had done 3 in spring and then a bunch of stuff came up with most of the teams families so we didn’t get a chance to do another one until this one. Our timing was on, mostly, until I looked at our sheet and discovered that we were only about an hour and quarter behind on putting on our ribs. Managed to get them into the right hot spots and get them done on time. We ended up with a 6th on them… I think I may have to change the recipe around a bit…

It was great to see every one again!

We had a great time at Ken's Burnt Ends. That wind was Killer!! Really messed with the cook times....the whole pre-planning sheet with times and such got blown away like our tent almost did. Our first comp and definitely not our last! We will see everyone again, that you can count on!!
