I went to our local Winn Dixie, the deli cooks some decent baked chicken. She says I got some about to come out if you want to wait and you can have it fresh. Sure I said, I'll walk around some. Where in a store like this is a Quer going to walk around? I got big eyes and I'm looking at all the different steaks roast etc. . Then I see my nemesis in the distance, I can spot them anywhere. Fresh beef ribs, a whole counter full, priced at $.99 a pound. Last week Rib Eyes were on sale and these were cut from those loins.
Thanks to my new heart healthy diet, I knew fatty beef ribs wouldn't be good for me. So I just walked on by and continued shopping. Each slab was right at $3 each and oh so pretty. Somehow I came by this counter again and stopped again. This time I picked up a package, just to look mind you, nothing more. I put it back down and just walked on by the second time. I headed toward the deli to check on the progress of my baked chicken, just a few more minutes the lady told me. I said to my self with determination that I will just wait here. Resisting the temptation to return to them beef ribs for another look. After about a minute I was bored and tired of waiting so I thought to my self one more look couldn't hurt. So here I go again feeling pretty confident in my ability to resist buying any ribs. This time i just didn't pick up one package to look at I looked at them all, literally. I just said no and walked on by and back to the deli for my baked chicken, which by this time didn't seem too appealing. (side note) There was 3 Big Wheel types walking around looking at the different displays and I noticed one of them watching me this entire time. I arrived back at the deli and to my relief my baked chicken was ready. Now I can get out of here and away from this temptation. It's a straight shot to the cashier and I don't have to go near that meat cooler again. Well that's how it was supposed to work, as I went to turn up the bake aisle , I thought one more look couldn't hurt. So I headed back for one last look before leaving them behind, or so I thought. That was it for me, I couldn't stand it no more. Moderation that's what I told myself, so I picked up one package only. Then I thought, my son and my wife also like beef ribs so I picked up one more package. Then I thought $.99 a pound you should get at least 2 for the freezer. So by now I got 4 packages and fighting the temptation for more. As I was walking away one of those mgr's said you tried with a smile, I replied, I really tried.

Great story! .... but having those ribs sitting there asking for you to buy them is better then NOT HAVING BEEF RIBS AT ANY OF YOUR THREE grocery stores.

I'm hoping to have some more money and deserve a break tomorrow too. I will trim the fat from the back and eat them in moderation, just one at a time. There awful pretty, I will post a picture in a little while. Made the wife a cast iron skillet Pecan Pie and I want to get a picture of that for you all to.

Jacob, I'm glad to hear that you are up and about! I wouldn't be able to resist a deal like either. Enjoy them.... in moderation of course.

Now it's suppose to set in the oven for 3 hours to set up. I'm taking bets on whether or not the wife lets it sit that long.

Little over an hour and the pie has set up very nice. Wife is looking that way, it's her favorite pie. I personally don't eat this type of sweets but love to cook for the family.

Be careful with that stuff, brother. I just gave up tortilla chips this week. Daily habit of mine. It's not easy!
