Question BBQ tool care

I've heard a rumor that a dishwasher will make your knives dull, not too sure how it does it but is that true? Do you farkers only hand wash your tools or dishwash them? I know for sure I only hand wash my needle for my temp gauge. Will this prevent rusting or breaking of springs?

Dishwasher, they have this thing that sharpens knives. Works pretty good.

For about all my trimming, slicing, prepping meat I use 2 knives. A pretty knife 8in chef knife and also a boning knife. Since that is about all I use for BBQ and any other prep I had wash those since it isn't much at all. Plus I don't run my dishwasher every day, but I use one of both of those knives every day.

Seriously, I have found that the amount of crap on get on all my other tools besides my knives, negates dishwasher. I have to do them by hand to get them clean enough.

I can't imagine how the dishwasher itself would dull a knife. But the knife edge can be damaged / nicked from bumping against other items from the water jets. I always hand wash my knives.

In the end it will be okay.
And if it's not okay, it's not the end.

I prefer hand washing of all my dishes. I don't know anything about it dulling knives, but when I used to use my dishwasher, I would wait until it was full to run it. Now I just do the dishes (and bbq stuff) as soon as I'm finished with it... by hand...
