I use a Weber chimney also. I still use starter fluid though. I light up 10-15 bricks with starter fluid and then add more charcoal if I need it. I'll never be a purist BBQer because of this though :( All I can say about it is that this small amount of starter fluid on a small number of charcoal bricks never carries any flavor or odor of any kind into my grill or smoker.

I have tried about all ways to light charcoal that have been demonstrated here with success. I have some of the Weber lighter cubes, and I have used paper towels and other paper refuse with a little cooking oil and it all works just fine. I think everyone has their own preferences :)
