Default Bad Day - Chicken Sucked

Had a bad day, tried to smoke chicken quarters for dinner. I fired up the smoker around 3:00 with some off brand charcoal, it did not want to come up to temp and stayed at 180 degrees. I fought and fought with it all evening just to keep it around 200. After 4 hours I pulled the chicken and finished in the oven. The chicken did not turn out very good, had a bitter taste and was not pleasant.

I have not had this issue with my smoker before, and I'm attributing my failure to the off brand charcoal I used. I guess its just one of those days, so what do you guys do when stuff does not turn out right?

Lol, yeah I just went and bought 10 bags of it! I only got the cheapo brand because the corner store was out of Kingsford, I'm not making that mistake again!
