I talked with Jessica at MMA today and here are some clarifications to the rules for Rancher's Reserve.

You must cook the entire top sirloin and your presentation must fit into a 9x9 styrofoam container with the lid closed. Garnish is open (not KCBS rules) so let your creativity be a key.

Reiser's potato salad rules:

Must be submitted in a 9x9 styrofoam container with the lid closed. Garnish is open (not KCBS rules) and instead of tenderness, creativity will be judged instead.

straight from Rancher's Reserve:

The Rancher's Reserve category will be OPEN garnish. As previously stated, KCBS standards of Taste, Texture and Appearance will apply with creativity in mind for each. Also, the teams are required to shop at a Safeway retailer and to provide their receipts to you at the cook's meeting. The Safeway located at the address below will have the necessary amount of whole top sirloin (whole Top Butt) available for the teams based on their online registrations. It is imperative that teams register online in order for the scoring database to be accurate.
