Default weber silver or gold...??

I'm thoroughly enjoying this forum btw. Granted I haven't seen too many other women on here I love the atmosphere and information that's on here.

That said... I'm getting a Weber Kettle to round out my Weber collection. We just upgraded our old Weber spirit to a Genesis a month ago and a couple weeks ago I got a 22.5 smokey mountain. Well today that old spirit left us and I now have the green light for a kettle.

How much better is the one touch gold over the silver?

I am a die hard gas griller but that's because I never knew the joys of charcoal... I'm learning... I'm assuming it's better to go bigger and get the 22" over the 18"...

advice is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to order this bad boy soon so it will arrive tomorrow. Man I love Amazon.

The ash catcher system in the Gold is worth the extra cost, IMHO.

Definitely go for the 22.5". The extra space is worth it. I agree with Chris on the ash catcher on the Gold. Plus, the gold has grates that flip up on the sides which makes adding fuel for longer indirect cooks much easier. Look for a OTG on Craig's List. You can usually find them for less than a new Silver.

For a grill I'd definitely get the 22" over an 18". As for silver or gold, the gold is a much better ash removal system.

I have a Silver and a Performer that has the "gold" style ash catcher. Go with the 22' Gold. You will not be sorry at all.

Go with the ash catcher. You will not like the silver model on a windy day.

well I think that settles it... the 18" silver then! lol I kid I kid...

as for CL... I NEVER find anything useful on there.. my husband manages to find tons of deals. I've been checking for a bit now for weber and nothing great catches my eye.. I'm cool with buying new. Amazon is saving me $20 over the local big box store.

I bought my 22" OTG a while back & haven't looked back!

Everybody's right, the ash catcher, hinged grate & the 3rd handle add up to justify the additional expense.

Sure, an OTS probably cooks just as well as an OTG, but the OTG will provide a more convenient & enjoyable experience.

Buying new over used gives you the added advantage of being able to pick your color! I went with green.

Definitely the gold for all of the reasons mentioned above. I'd go with the 22.5" over the 18" and the 26.75" over the 22.5".

Patience is rewarded on CL, but it's hard to wait. :)

I'm a new owner of the 22.5 OTG also and I can't say that I'm disappointed that I spent the extra money for the ash catcher. It makes it a snap to get the ashes out... no turning it upside down and dumping.

I am also super happy with this upgrade I got to go with mine:

You're going to be using it for like 30 years, spend a few extra bucks. And I'd get the 22. Actually I'd get the 26" if you could.
