Default question please

I have a couple really old kimoto bbq's I tried to use one to cook pizza on it and the stone got so smoking hot it was burning the pizza right away, can a temp gauge be put on one of these? can a hole be drilled in the lid and place a big green egg temp gauge? can a place setter be made of something, on my big green egg because I can tell how hot it is and with the place setter the pizzas come out great.

Please help me I want 3 pizza ovens for parties

i use an oven thermo sitting on the stone until it hit's 550, than the pie goes on, cooks in about 4 minutes for a 12" ny style pie. Remember, when you're cooking at high temps the less toppings the better, the bottom will burn long before the top is even browned

I would get a glass drill bit and drill a hole in the lid. You can get therometers anywhere.

I did not think you could that high of heat.. I think 450 would be max because of cracking the pot. just my thought.
