Default Hello from Minneapolis!

Hey all, my name is Jon- I got my first pig pickin in North Carolina when I was just a tyke, but I was hooked. Now I'm a new surgeon busy trying to scrape together a practice but my idea of a good time is staying up all night taking care of a brisket. I built my first smoker out of flower pots and a hot plate, now bought a large BGE. My wife and 18 month old daughter are getting tired of all the leftovers but I can't stop. I make mint juleps from my herb garden.

I think the best BBQ comes from peoples backyards, no commercial enterprise can match (at least in MN).

I am fired up to be on this forum to help me figure out my current challenges (dry brisket, exploding brats, hockey puck pizza) and sharing some of the things I've learned through hard knocks.

Greetings and welcome from Hickory, North Carolina :) I agree with the Backyard Q being as good as it gets. These competition guys are just a bunch of drama queens ;)
