Default My Girlfriend Bought Me a Char-Griller Komado

My girlfriend bought me a Char Griller Komado Akorn for my birthday. Is she great or what? I think I will put it together tonight. I know a lot of people here have bought them now. Does anyone have any advice for the assembly process or anything that is not covered by the manual? Any worthwhile modifications that you think should be done at assembly time? I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has experience with this cooker. Thanks

No advice except to make sure some rat Bastardo doesn't try to steal your girlfriend when they find out what an angel she is! Put it together and fire it up WooHoo! It's your birthday!!

Congrats on the girl friend, she's a keeper. As for the grill, they go together very easy. The only mod I've done on mine is to remove the lower air intake and put a gasket under it because most people are finding the inlet is not air tight for low and slow cooks. Other wise, there are many suggestions out there for "personalizing" it to work best for your needs, but it is a great unit right out of the box. I've had mine for awhile now and for the price don't think it can be beat.

You lucky dog! Now ask her how she feels about having to wait to eat until you take pictures of all of your food. If she's OK with that, I say Marry her.

Happy birthday!!! Doesn't get much better than that. I havent made any mods to mine. I am getting it to hold temp in the 250-275 range with royal oak lump. Could probably get it lower with kingsford blue.
Add on wise, get the weber replacement charcoal grate it fits perfect on the heat deflector shelf then you can just get a 16 inch terra cotta saucer for a heat deflector. Grand total of 25 bucks and your ready for low and slow.
Enjoy! It's a great cooker.
