I have a little project I am working on and was curious if any of you have worked with refractory cement? My main question on this is it considered food safe. It wont be directly in contact with food but will be in the heat source area that feeds the cook chamber.
Thanks, Ken

You have to use refractory cement inside the fire box area of fireplaces to pass code everywhere I know. There have been probably millions of meals that have been cooked in open fire places or with dutch ovens or cranes over the open fires so I would think this would be a safe product. the refractory cement is made to hold up to the heat and to not exploid from it as are teh fire bricks.
