Default Wonder If I Can Find A Local Pizza Stone

I suppose there's not much chance I'll find a decent stone locally. Maybe in Lowes or Home Depot Grill Departments?

I have an urge to do some baking in my new BGE

At some point I would suggest you get the BGE stone. It's made from the same material as the Egg, nice and thick. Really like mine.

More likely in their flooring departments. Google QUARRY PIZZA. You'll get many responses with good advice.

Agreed.
I cracked a couple of cheapo stones before I wised up and got a BGE stone. It is very thick and can definitely take the heat.
Here's an action shot...

The place you bought your BGE doesn't stock them?

Any cooking store should have one. I've even seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond. But don't expect them to hold up long

I use the cheap pizza stones as heat sinks in the big bullet water pans. They do and will crack. If you plan to use one in the Egg, be aware.

I would place the order, and do it right the first time...The BGE stone is worth the wait IMO.

Yup! I see them all the time at places that sell cookware, and I too have seen them at BB&B.

Home stores, like Bed Bath and Beyond have el cheapo pizza stones...they work in a pinch but I have shattered a number of them while using them in my oven (500 + degree's preheated stone and a room temp pizza).

Order the BGE stone, or there are a number of places on line where you can get thick stones but you will have to wait to get them.

http://www.fornobravo.com/pizza-stone/pizza-stone.html For example this stone is 3/4" thick.
