Default Wyatt's Beef Jerky. (Tons O' Pron)

Wyatt can't login for some reason. So I am posting it for him.

Wyatt was asked by his Uncle in Kuwait to make some jerky to send to the desert. Yesterday, we bought the High Mountain Jerky Cure, and a 1 1/2lb top round steak.

After following the instructions, he sliced the meat with the grain in 1/4" strips and cured for 24 hrs. We bought these little grilling grates at Wally World for $.75 each. They're great for jerky.

Here he is laying the cured beef out on the grilles for smoking, making sure there is plenty of room between them.

All laid out, and ready for the drum.

A bunch of apple for smoke in the drum.

He is also proud of the second cooking grate he added to his drum this morning. (Wally World has the grates on clearance for $7, so go after 'em)

He set his drum up to cook at 200*, and puts the probes out on my "high tech" probe holders.

After 2hrs and 15 min, this is the product. I'll be buyng him a larger cut of beef soon. Just for jerky.

Not bad for a Newbie.

Looks Great Wyatt!!!!!!!
You are getting started with Jerky even younger than I did

May I suggest "Eye of the Round" for the beef.
Easy to work with and very cost effective.

Great Job.

I don't know what happened but Phil fixed my login.

This was just a trial run. I wanted to make sure it tasted good for my uncle.

I'll make a bigger batch next weekend.

Looks great Wyatt! I have used that jerky seasoning in the past with great results. My favorite is the Hickory flavor with venison.

Keep on smokin.
