Hi everyone,

All you teams that are going to be competing in Lowell, I know you have charitable bones in ya. Now is your chance to help. I have a little
something in the works for the Lowell event. As you may or may not
know, I am on the charity committee within the NEBS Board of
Directors. Recently I have been working with the Cor Unum Meal Center
in Lawrence, MA.

www.corunummealcenter.org

This center feeds hundreds of hungry people each and every day, and
they are actually ABLE to accept cooked food donations. This is where
y'all come in. I would like to know which of you teams that are competing would be willing to cook up an extra pork butt for donation to the center. I am working to get the butts donated, but for now all I need to know is WHO would want to help me with this endeavor.

The plan is to have the teams bring the meat to the NEBS tent in
Lowell AT the Mass State Championship on SUNDAY after the brisket turn-in. Kelly Keady and I will be manning the tent. The Cor Unum Meal Center is sending a van to pick up the food on Sunday, probably about 2:30p.m.

Please e-mail me at Michelob515 at aol dot com, or PM me, if you are interested and want further details.

Thanks to everyone in advance. I SO hope we can make this work. I know there is not a lot of time, the competition is next weekend, but I think we can do it. Everyone will be cooking anyway, so really all you'd need to do is bring the cooked pork butt over to the NEBS tent.

Thanks again!

Will they (you) be accepting other food items too? Canned goods? Our leftovers? Cases of soda or water? We would love to help.

This is from their website. We are not doing canned goods this time.

Trash Bags (30 and 55 Gallon)
Aluminum Foil
Plastic wrap
Parchment paper
Storage and freezer bags (large size)
Plastic disposable gloves

Paper Products
Paper towels
Napkins
Paper Placemats
Large paper plates (heavy duty – plastic, chinet or styrofoam)
Small paper plates (heavy duty – plastic, chinet or styrofoam)
Styrofoam or plastic bowls
Plastic cold drink cups
Styrofoam hot cups
Plastic spoons, forks and knives

Cleaning Supplies
Laundry detergent
Bleach

I figure most teams have a bunch of this stuff anyway.

I would be happy to take the pork leftovers and probably the brisket as well. I will have more details later on, by the end of the weekend.

Thanks!

You know, I don't want to discourage anyone from donating anything. Now that I read my post, it kinda sounded like that. It's just that I don't know if I can handle moving 50 cases of water and tons of canned goods.
You know what I mean?
There is a list on their website and anything on it that you (the competition teams) would like to donate, I'd be glad to take it in! Just let me know so I have a head's up.

Thanks!

Cool.
We will be donating some products from the list.

Thank you , thank you!

Either bring 'em to the NEBS tent or chat at me.

Sooo, are we consuming adult beverages from the Harpoon trophy?
I heard a rumor...hee hee hee.
