Man is this a stout field!

While I am hesitant to make an individual pick from among friends, my money is on one of the teams from the upper midwest.

Consider- just from the Iowa teams I know :
The father and son duo of Grills Gone Wild of Iowa and Pig Skin BBQ ( #2 in points)
Big Tz # 3 in points with a #1 in brisket
Lucky's Q - #4 at the Royal Invitational last year
Iowa's Smoky D's - always a threat.

While skill got all these teams to the final - with this tough a field - luck will sure be a factor.

No matter who wins - it will be a stellar accomplishment worthy of praise from all of us.

I am just proud of the quantity and quality of the teams from our part of the country.

Six teams from Iowa - maybe they can move this to Des Moines.

The problem with bbqrace.com is that it just looks at KCBS contests. Myself and most from my area only cook a handful at most KCBS contests. Most of ours are FBA. nationalbbqrankings.com combines multiple sanctioning bodies giving a more accurate representation IMO. Now if we could only get it updated.

Surprising few in this field. Which one are you picking?

I was thinking the same thing. I was just looking at the Everglades Seasoning Team on bbqrace. I hate to be the one to out him, but I find it hard to believe Jimmy is ranked 715.

I'm thinking he's only cooked a couple KCBS contests this year, one of them being the 73 team Lakeland Pig Fest that he GC'd.

I agree Rub that they need to update. Here is what I get when I sign on.

Like National BBQ Rankings on facebook

Being the KCBS guy I am I naturally am more interested in those standings rather than other sanctioning bodies so it tickled me to see bbqrace.com get onboard. Previous sites finally could not keep up with the painstaking work of updating standings on a regular basis so they were unreliable. Hopefully these guys make a few coins to warrant their efforts with this site. PLUS...where does a site stop adding rankings? Should SCBA be included as well...or SBN????
