Backyard Competitions

Newbie here! Not sure if I'm ready for the big leagues, so I was wondering if anyone gathers info on "backyard" competitions. I know there's one in Jefferson City, MO (Capitol City Cookoff) in conjunction with the KCBS sanctioned event. That's kind of what I'm interested in. Something small, but still held to KCBS standards. Does anyone know how to find these events?

Hi TW: I don't know of a central point or listing of contests with backyard divisions. You'll need to check with the contests that interest you (distance, location, etc.) to see if they will have one. The KCBS site will give you contact information.
Another good reference is the "Contest Calendar" at thesmokering.com (covers all sanctioning bodies). The Contest Calendar is mostly blank for 2011 right now but will begin to populate in February and March.
