Default Weber bottom for UDS lid

I think it's about time to start on my 2nd UDS... I want to make some changes from the Binford UDS 1000...

Changes are:

Weber bottom for lid (for more height)
a hinge on that lid
wheels
ash pan on charcoal grate for easier cleaning
make use of the slide I got from JD a while back
powder coating
maybe some stainless spring handles and such
etc etc...

my question on using the bottom for the lid is how well would it seal? obviously the regular weber lid fits around the lip of the base so essentially that would be 2 rounded lips meeting each other... I see several pics of folks doing this, so hopefully someone will chime in...

Thanks!
