I don't know how you could get any safer, and still use fire. What I do a lot, is put the meat on the top rack, then put a pan underneath. Even easier than foiling.

Yoder lets you transfer warranty, so you should give them a call.

I thought of the pan under technique immediately. Yep, still under warranty. I'll call them Monday. Picked it up yesterday.

Does not seem to but MSD prefers it foiled. I don't mind and it keeps it cleaner so when I make the modification it will be easier to work with.
