I like a very simple kosher salt and black pepper rub with brisket. It's pretty well the standard rub at a lot of the best Texas hill country joints. Give it a try sometime.

Salt and pepper works. Onion and garlic in the powdered form help. A little cayenne is good too. Dried Ancho is one of my favorites. Sugar in the Raw in small proportions.

Or, just get some Fiesta brand brisket rub. I like it a lot.
