After the burn in I shut it down and let it come back to ambient temps (40° with 34° windchill.)

Started it back up for a biscuit test, after it did it’s start up procedure and came to 150° I timed it from 150° to the 350° that I set for the biscuit test. I must say I was IMPRESSED!!! That climbs faster than Waylon with a load of charcoal!

The biscuit test was very interesting and not what I expected! Hard to tell from the pic but the center was the coolest and the edges were the hottest! The exhaust end being the hottest of all. Gonna re adjust the heat shield and see if I can’t even it out from end to end a bit, but first, gotta go get some more 2 for a dollar biscuits!

YALL Check this OUT!!!!

Same timing same temperatures, the heat shield slid to the right by 1” is ALL!!!

Here’s right side up....

Here’s the corner biscuits turned upside down...

I’m WAAAAYYYYY impressed with the evenness!!!

Next I’ve gotta build a top rack for it so we can cook two pizzas at once!

I’m gonna move the heat shield back to the left 1/2 inch and run another test!

Why? Cause it’s fun!

But first I gotta go to the store again

Hi everyone, returning to the world of outdoor cooking after being away for acouple of years. I just ordered my new GMG Daniel Boone after discovering my old camp chef was dead. I had planned a picnic for pulled pork...did it in the oven instead. Hope to be grill/smoking here in the next couple of weeks. Scott

More flat top cooking. The ones with buns are for my wife. I went bunless. Cheesesteaks with provolone, peppers, onion, mushrooms, and mayo.

Nicely done! I love flat top cooking! Actually thinking about selling my 36” Blackstone griddle and buying the 48” Camp Chef griddle. Big family = BIG griddle :)

What surprised me was how quick it was. From the time I started up the Mak to slicing 3 pounds of beef, slicing onion, mushrooms, peppers, cooking the veggies, toasting the buns, grilling the cheese steak, to plating it was just under an hour. With the 48inch you should be able to cut that down to 30 minutes.
