Shepherds Pie on BGE Pr0n
Shepherds Pie was selected as the comfort food for a cold rainy day.
I decided, outside under the new roof on “Old Smokes Kitchen” Attachment 62537 The BGE was fired up with some lump, when it reached 325* I started browning a mixture of sausage and hamburger. Drained the excess fat and added some minced garlic, and diced onions and red pepper, dry onion soup, some “Wooster” and a bit of White Zinfandel (not yet consumed by the cook....) This mixture went back to the BGE while I prepped the remaining stuff. Attachment 62536 The final assembly looked like this: Cream of mushroom soup and sliced mushrooms, on top of meat mixture, then..... Attachment 62538 Frozen veggies, covered with.... Attachment 62539 Cheese, Attachment 62540 Final layer was smooshed taters and a bit more cheese, Attachment 62541 Then back on the BGE until everything was hot and bubbly... Attachment 62542 Yep it was good; my #1 fan voted it as a “do over” Attachment 62543 OH! btw.... After a long cold and wet day helping at the pistol range yesterday, reruns were on the menu. Into the nuker, with a bit of Sirachi and I was warm all over again!!! Thanks for looking at Friday night dinner at our house...

That looks really great, you are making me hungry.
I thought Shepard's Pie was made with Lamb and Cottage Pie with Beef or is that a myth?

Mate, I love this!
Never heard of the 'shroom soup in the pie before and as SmokinJon says, Shepherds Pie is lamb, Cottage Pie is beef...but what the hell - it still looks good...and I bet tastes even better! |

Mom and grandma, both made a great dish that was called "Shepherds Pie" but I never got their recipe, and maybe it was made with lamb. I become violently ill when I eat lamb, mutton, goat etc, (aka sheep meat), so maybe the ingredients were changed but not the name. Of all the recipes that I researched and "cut 'n pasted" to create this dish all were called "Shepherds Pie", and I only saw one that mentioned lamb as a possible ingredient. BUT It seems reasonable that "Shepherds Pie" would be made with lamb, not beef. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it..... Thanks, I only wished that the large pine tree hadn't died and had to removed. Thanks again to all who stopped by.....

That looks awesome. Do you have a recipe that lists out the ingredients and measurements that you would not mind sharing?
