Default Pit Barrel Cooker

After a week of torturous waiting, my PBC finally arrived today. Since moving, I have been kinda forced to sell/eliminate a few of my beloved cookers. Had to sell a 26.75" Weber Kettle, 22.5 Weber Kettle, 22.5" WSM, 18.5" WSM, and a Hasty Bake :( That leaves me with a rather simple setup. A Weber Genesis ep-330, and my new PBC. I know how most of you feel about "gas", but I have grilled on a lot of different cookers, and I simply have not found (gas or charcoal) anything that I like more than the Weber Genesis (w/ the INCREDIBLE Grill Grates). With that said, I CANNOT wait to try my hand at ribs, butt, chicken and tri-tip on the PBC!!

Wondering how many others own a PBC... and if so, how does it stack up/compare to your other cookers?

I know PattioDaddio loves his PBC, do a search on it, some good looking food comes out of that cooker.

Sparky is another that loves his PBC!
My condolences on losing your Weber's, you will want a few back...

Yep! Patio Daddio was kinda my inspiration behind the decision to shed some baggage and go simple (a Genesis and PBC). Thinking I'm gonna like the simplicity of my new setup. The Weber Genesis for grilling (and weeknight) cooking.. and the PBC for everything else :)

I fail to understand the Hype of a UDS with a couple of pieces of reed bar and a few hooks

Well thanks for the link but if I had that kind of money to spend on a 30 gal uds with a couple extras I would be eating a lot better than I do these days. It may cook fantastic its just way to much for what it is, but that is the cheap side of me talking here.

Understood my friend! With that said though, the PBC company is offering a promotion this month... you can get a discount code worth $104 by signing up at www.grilling.com

Brings your total down to $225 shipped to your door.

Seriously, I cannot think of ANY quality pit that'll ship to your door for a lil over 2 bills :)

Mine is here in the house, but Santa hasn't technically "delivered" it yet so I still got about 2 weeks before I can break it out. And since of course the ladyfriend bought it for me I have to be patient and wait. Haven't been this anxious for Christmas since I was a little kid!!

My other Christmas present is a UDS. Gifted to me, from me! That should be ready sometime next week. I can't wait to cook on both the PBC and UDS and really compare differences. Maybe downsize a bit too and pass off the silver smoker offset to a newbie.

I built two custom UDS's (mainly for competition) and I've fired one up exactly ONCE since I received my PBC nearly nine months ago, and that was for a catering gig. I'll trade both of my UDS's straight-up for one more PBC.

Just to bring the cookie jar down to where the kiddies can reach it, we beat Johnny Trigg in ribs and pork at a single comp using a PBC, Kingsford blue bag, and *gasp* lighter fluid.

I can assure you that this is no UDS. Head over to their site and see the difference.
