Default Guru for UDS

Thinking about purchasing one of these contraptions.
Does anyone here use one on a UDS?
If so, what door did you order and what Mods did you have to make
to get it to work correctly?

Thanks Gentlemen.

Question

You didn't receive my mail?
Basic 3/4" pipe nipples and one 3/4" Gate valve.
All located 2" from the bottom of the drum.
Thanks.

I'd be interested to know what sort of inlets and sizes would be ideal? Since most folks build and modify drum smokers themselves, we can usually do whatever needs to be done...

Guru sells a lot of specific port adaptors as well as a couple of universals I think. Which one would be best if you're starting from scratch with a new drum?

If one wanted to weld in a special bung for the standard guru blower inlet, what inside diameter tubing should be used?

What's the best sized/CFM blower to use?

I have an old procomp with 10 cfm fan with adapter for WSM. I put this on my UDS and using 8 lbs. lump charcoal and guru set at 225 degrees I got a 16 hour burn. My UDS has an old weber grill lid that fits perfect.

I put the one I got for my WSM on one of my drums once and it worked like a charm. The drum has a single 2 inch exhaust. I taped it half shut.
The fan is the size that came for a wsm (10 cfm?). There is a gate on the fan that is open 50 % for a wsm, I set that wide open.
The fan worked harder than it does on the wsm, but it all worked out great.

smokinit - I'd like to see shat you have in mind too, my drum has either a 5/8 or 3/4 holes that use plugs. I knew that Guru made different styles of adaptors, I've only seen ones for Eggs.

Thawley - Looking at the Guru adaptor for my small and large Eggs, I would think I could just drill a new hole in the drum and just mount that style of adapror with pop rivets and some silicone for a gasket. Then if I wasn't using the Guru, I could just put the silicone plug in, and still have use of all my original vents. My only reservation would be the fact that the fan would be sitting real close to the ground...
