Does anyone have any experience and or thoughts about this smoker? I found a used one that seems to be a pretty good price.

It uses an 1000w electric heating element.

I have the previous model, the Smokette, and it does a great job, especially in cold weather. It is not the same as cooking with a wood fire since the heat source is electric and wood is used only for smoke flavor, however. It is very easy to over smoke the food if you aren't careful. A chunk of wood the size of a gold ball is good enough for almost anything that you want to cook.

I have no experience with the cookshacks, but that is just about the coolest name for a cooker I've ever heard.

Makes one feel like they're doing their patriotic duty to own one.

Cookshack products are built like tanks, made in america, and support is awesome, even if you bought it used, they still will help you (within reason). they have a really strong forum just for cookshack products, a wealth of infomation can be found there at CLICK HERE .

I tried food off of a electric cookshack, and I was really surprised how good it was. I own a cookshack pellet smoker, and I just love it, its a pork cooking machine

another little bonus, depending on what price you buy it for, usually someone would buy it from you if it wasn't what you wanted.

We had the Smokette model. But, it did not give off enough smoke flavor for me. I used the wood chunks they sent and everything. Tried pork butt, beef brisket and pork ribs. Didn't like any of them; not enough smoke flavor for me.

The customer support is great and they gave me tips and suggestions, but still not enough for me.

I returned it for full refund with no problems!

I wish other companies customer support were like these guys!

I had a smokette. Really liked it. Set it and forget it. Did a great job. Wish I still had it.

I have owned my Smokette, been extremely happy with it's results over the last 12 years.
It gets hauled around the state of Michigan several times a year and still works great.

I also have a Smokette, that I bought used a few months back... I have only smoked Butts & Brisket in it, but it works like a Champ! .... Oh, and I put a thin wire rack on top of the unit, elevated about 5 inches above the top, covered by a cardboard box with a few holes in it & smoked cheese with no melting or any ill effects ... I am VERY happy with it & will probably buy another CookShack in the future, a larger unit for smoking sausages that I can hang from the top.... Drawback: may be a little small, depending on what you plan on using it for.
