Default First cook on the Bubbagrill!

I finally had the chance to fire up the new pit yesterday.

uploadfromtaptalk1347277145605.jpg

Picked up half a cord of hickory.

uploadfromtaptalk1347277991446.jpg

Just a few items to get it going. Two butts, two racks of BB's(they were all out of spares) and four spatchcocked chickens.

The pit performed beautifully and easily held temp. Was only putting 1-2 splits on every hour. Took a little playing around with to understand the nuances of it but once I got the temp range down from top rack to bottom rack using my good old ET-732 I had no issues. The difference in temp from top to bottom was 35 degrees and only 20 degrees from firebox side to end. Had the whole neighborhood stopping by and admiring her :D. Can't wait to really load her up and see how she performs!

Nice Pit! I have the same one. Most I ever loaded "Bessie" up with is 48 racks of SLC.( Helped a friend do a charity cook) I also got a 3rd rack for rib cooking. I notice after a few hours going, I can have her within a few degrees from one end to the other. It does just take some toying around to figure out the nuiances.

Good louck with her!!

My competition daze are probably behind me now; I pretty much cook for family, friends, and frankly the peace and solitude I get from smokin' on an offset...

Best part about it was that it didn't need a lot of tending to! I'm so happy with "The Other Wife"
