New guy looking for build advice
Just signed up here after a couple days of reading posts. Great site.
Have been scouring for info that can help with my build. I'm using a 70-gallon kerosene drum 48" by 26" with a 100 lb propane tank 42" by 15" as a rear firebox. I saw the build here with a bigger smoker build Diamond Plate style with two 6" pipes entering the smoke chamber from the firebox and wondering if I should downsize to 4" because of my smaller, 70 gal capacity chamber or just go with 6" - either way I'd be putting dampers in the pipes, which I figure lets you make the inlets anything in size (up to the diameter of the pipe, or course) The build I read about here used tuning plates, but I am looking for thoughts on putting the chimney in the middle and using a reverse flow baffle plate leaving openings at both ends of the chamber to draw smoke back to the center. I used the pit calculator to figure a few things out, but since my build varies from the sidebox type, not sure if the calcs should be followed. Main concerns would be the chimney size, side openings and the previously mentioned connecting pipes from the firebox. Any help would be appreciated. |
