I've got a $20 weed burner from Harbor Freight that works great.
As long as it blows fire I don't think it matters.

I have had this small bernzomatic for years and would not part with it.
No hose, lightweight, burns hot, easy storage.
Whats not to like

Same one here, it will reduce anything to embers in a matter of seconds.... LOL

My neighbors don't like it, which drives me to use it at every available opportunity.

If you need to light a drum pit, a long weed burner sure is easier to use. If not, a short one works well.

I use a MAPP gas plumbers torch with igniter. MAPP gas burns hotter than propane and lights coal quickly.

I have a $50 propane torch from Home depot....Supposedly it puts out 50,000 BTU's....All I know is my neighbors think there is an F-18 taking off in my driveway when I light my smoker.

I have the same torch also. When i started my smoker it does sound like a F-18 taking off. Was loud enough my neighber came over to see what was going on...needless to say he was invited for supper, for the early morning wake up call. After we ate he said i could wake him again next week.

Harbor freight sells one with an ignitor and one with out. I got one on sale labor day weekend for $13 without, still burns everything I need it to burn.

My weed burner scared the he!! outta me when I tried lighting some lump charcoal. The sparks flew and I was stomping on embers all over the place.
I now only use it in the firebox of my offset with the lid closed.
Other times I use the chimney with a 1 lb. Bernzomatic torch.
