Picked up this beauty--- block Griswold #8 with self basting lid. She came already seasoned but I cleaned and reseasoned myself. Decided to pan fry some chicken tenders. Dredge was flour, S&P, and magic dust. Coated in egg, dredge, egg, and dredge again. Came out great! Ate with ketchup/habanero sauce mix.

She's a beauty! The chicken looks great too! My favorite pan to cook in is my gris 12, but it's a small stamp :icon_blush:

That is awesome and the tenders look great also. :)

Have fun and happy smoking

Being from Erie, Pa. myself, That cast is awesome! But the food looks just as good. Enjoy.

Very nice... Where did you get that from if you don't mind me asking?

eBay my friend :D

I have found some other awesome griswold pieces at antique stores and estate sales though. If you don't mind completely cleaning and reseasoning you can get em fairly cheap considering with proper care they will outlive any of us lol.

Love that pan! Bird looks good too!

My mom gave me a very old Wagner #8 as a Christmas gift today. Needs to be cleaned and reseasoned, but looks to be in great shape.

Love my old cast iron pieces. That's a real beauty! Congrats! :thumb:

I'm a big fan of Griswold pans too. I had a no. 10 skillet I got from my mom who probably got it from her family in Wisconsin. Great pan, but heavy at about 7-1/2 pounds. A few years ago I bought a Griswold no. 10 off ebay in perfect shape (no lid though) and it works just the same but weighs only 4 pounds.

My partner Karen really really appreciates the difference when she has to get that sucker out or put it away!
