Beware when UPS leaves a box in your driveway...
Got a call from Big Al while I was driving home letting me know I had received a package - hum - I didn't order anything...
I got home to find a box from Char and Tom.... Char had been talking with me a few weeks ago about the Italian Beef and how you need to have the Giardiniera to round it out. Well - not only was there Giardiniera in the box but some BBQ sauces too - and Necco's... Thanks Tom and Char! What a nice treat on a cold winter day.

That's a nice surprise, however...
I don't want to burst your bubble, but that Mezzetta giardiniera is not the same kind of giardiniera that is used on Chicago Italian beefs. I was born there and lived in Chicagoland for 31 years. The giardiniera used in Chicagoland is made mostly with sport peppers and is packed in oil. Check out this link... http://www.dellalpe.com/PRODUCTS/fam...iardiniera.htm I buy from them. They were once located in my home town of Cicero, IL. They have moved to Bolingbrook, IL., but the giardiniera has not changed. I prefer and recommend the hot giardiniera over the mild. This giardiniera is just like the giardiniera you will find at any Chicagoland beef stand.
