Default Big Green Egg Table Question

Just took the plunge and picked up a Large BGE. Building a table this weekend. The standard table plans call for a 21" hole. The plans also call for a distance from the top of the shelf to the top of the table at either 15" or 17". I'm thinking the 17" is allowing for the patio cement under the unit?

Apparently there were some changes to the hinges and this created changes in these dimensions.

Looking forward to breaking this thing in.

Thanks

I think you're right but would need to take a look at your plans to see if it's the same set I used to build mine. Do you have a link?

Check with Todd a.k.a. Plowboy. He is the resident expert in BGE tables.

Thanks Bigdog. If I could find a Search function on this site I'd find him and send him a PM... But can't seem to find the search feature here.

That's a great link for plans. Great tip. Given that I have a new Egg, do I have a Autolock Hinge or a Spring Hinge? Dimensions vary depending on that.

I'm guessing the new Eggs are spring

Thanks

Ted, there should be a google search at the bottom of the page. Just type in Plowboy.

Table is about done. 57" long, 24" wide and 32" tall, per the standard plans on Naked Whiz site. Looking for a cover for this baby. Looks like a V5TC.

I hope that fits... "Ventilated cover for long table" is the description

i saw a real cool table on here the other day that allowed one to insert the table into the front (or back) rather than dropping it in the hole.

I see under my name "knows what a fatty is." Sorry to say I don't. What the hell is a fatty?

My table is getting the final coat of urethane today. It's cedar. 2 coats of very thick two-part epoxy, followed by 2-part urethane for UV protection. Just like for a wood boat
