Default Rodman's Bar B Que - Suffolk, VA

Rodman's Bar-B-Que, Suffolk, VA

I've written of this place to/for others in recent days.

Happened to make it back "home" for another visit, so I thought I'd throw a few thoughts out on the table.

My folks've been visiting Rodman's for years. It's been a local staple of good 'cue for years. That said, it's interesting to see them "branching out" into new meat types.

Here's their written "menu:"

Heads-Up! Fried Chicken - Mom says it was so bad - it was cooked so long that it was hard and dry... oil was old and needed to be changed.

Meanwhile... Their to-go menu is reasonable, and it's how we usually partake.

Momma did say that their Brunswick Stew IS tasty, and we should've tried it. If only I'd known...

The 'Cue: It's not "dressed" like others. It's simple, but a little more chunky... and it has some nice flavor.

The Slaw: Nice vinegar and a little mustard-based Slaw. Really well done. Good twang, with enough balance from some sweet to keep it enjoyable for the masses.

If I'm going to eat at home, I'm going to break out some Scott's Barbecue Sauce.

This seems to bring it all together and make an incredibly tasty morsel for lunch.

I guess it's a toss-up, eh!?

Their 'cue is pretty darned good... but don't stray too far from the path.
