I think $185. Bob has been out of town, so I didn't nail him down on that! He'll be back on Tuesday... I'll let you know, or feel free to call him.

I mounted it directly over the arm that holds the deflector plate in place. That arm shields it from direct heat, and it reads within about 10 degrees of the hood thermo. Should work out just about perfect.

As you can see I mounted the other two near the airflow out - should also give a reasonable facsimile, and recover quicker at the back of the cooker.
If I dont like it as well, I may move both of them to the same spot as the tailgator. The tailgator will be a chicken machine now baby!!!!

The controller is alot like the old FEC controller... about a 15 degree swing on either side of your set temp. It spikes initially as you preheat the cooker, then dials right in.

Does Bobby have Tru Tel gauges that fit the tailgator? I almost tapped a bigger hole in mine today to drop in my 4" illuminated dial. Then I thought I'd better ask if there was something that could drop in before I go bastardizing a $700 stainless steel cooker.

Pretty cool. Gave mine a good cleaning today and just finished a chicken test run.

I think he has a few different ones that fit. None with a 4" dial however.
You can see the one we installed in the tailgator I use. He seems to like those better than the small tel-tru's (these have a bigger range)... but I imagine he can get whatever you want.

The max on my Tru Tel is only 500.

These Therms go to 750, and have worked great -- but I believe he can order a 2" thermo that goes to 750 from Tel-tru. The Egg replacement he has from Tel-tru goes to 750.
