I let 'em cook for about 3 hours. I like the beans to start to break down. Almost like refried but still with the texture. Just make sure you keep mixing them and keep some fluid in the dutch oven.

Sounds good... I'm gonna cook them mostly with the lid off and stir them occasionally and a little beer addition sounds good to me...

John your beans look great. I would add a can of apple pie filling to that, maybe even peach... maybe not. haha
