That's right I forgot that most people fry ice cream instead of baking it. I'm so stupid

Not an entry...
Hey Gore... This looked so good we had to try our own version tonight:
Since we are so close to Thanksgiving, my Mrs. Czervik wanted to experiment with a pumpkin flavored cake. She loosely followed Erin's recipe and this is how hers turned out... Not a great pic but you get the idea. The flan/cake ratio is a little different as well as the amount of the caramel. I tried a piece to make sure it wasn't poisonous and so far so good. It was farking yummy. Please thank Erin for the inspiration. Oh and thanks to WWFBBQ for sending the actual recipe...

Official Get Baked TD entry.
I really wanted to try something creative for this TD but so many ideas and so little time. I decided to go with plan B and bake a simple corn bread, just a simple filler, nothing fancy.
Here are the ingredients I used, I couldn't get the boiling and lukewarm water stay in a nice puddle so I left them out of the picture. Some might say, "there aint no sugar in real cornbread". To them I say I only used a teaspoon and it was only to keep the yeast happy. I mixed 1-1/4 cups white cornmeal with 1-1/4 cups of boiling water. While that was cooling off I mixed 1 teaspoon sugar in a 1/2 cup of lukewarm water then sprinkled 2 packets of yeast on top to let them get acquainted for about 10 minutes. Once the cornmeal mixture cooled below 105* I whipped the happy yeast and sugar mixture then mixed it with the cornmeal. I then started to slowly add 3 cups all purpose flour and about another 1/4 cup of lukewarm water. Once it was all mixed well and formed a ball, I dumped it onto a floured board and kneaded it for about 10 minutes until it became elastic, then I formed it into a ball, placed it into a greased pot and covered it for about 90 minutes to let rise. After 90 minutes the dough had doubled, I punched it down then rolled it into another ball rolling it in some corn flour, then into a greased pan to let rise again for another 45 minutes. I fired up Milton with some wicked good lump and cranked it up to 400* (I tried to go up to 450* but a smoking pizza pan and burnt finger later I settled on 400*). Here it is ready to go into the pan before the second rise. Here it is going on the grill after the second rise. About 40 minutes later I had this. This is one of my favorite breads it has a nice crunchy crust and a moist crumb. It came out much better than I expected it would on the grill however it would have been even better if I was able to crank my grill up to 450 without it smoking so much, the crust would have been darker and the crumb would have also been moister which is what this bread (Pão de Milho) is all about. I wish I had some nice smoked cheese to go with it, thanks for looking.

My wife has been busy making fudge for Thanksgiving, but took some time off to help me make something for the girls' breakfast. She helped me on condition that if it won, she could call the next category. There's something she's been dying to call. A few weeks back, she made some puff pastry for some pork tenderloin (that didn't happen) and it ended up in the freezer. We also had some cherries and blueberries just taking up space. We began by thickening the cherries with sugar and a bit of corn starch
We did the same for the blueberries: While this cooled, the pastry was rolled out Sliced and overstuffed, folded, and brushed with egg These were placed in the Oval at 400*. The temp always drops about 25* and note that there is an insulating pan under the pan the turnovers are on. This pan is actually slightly smaller and it is essential to prevent the bottoms from burning. These cooked for about 45 minutes and were rotated 2/3-way through: You can see the rotation probably wasn't necessary this time as they baked pretty evenly. Without the insulating pan, the bottoms would've been black (I probably should've wiped off the spatula ) Glazed this with a bit of icing and this will make a lovely breakfast tomorrow. ... and I washed the dishes.

So does magic pumpkin flan have mushrooms in it? It looks delicious even if you left them out.

No green chile, no sugar, Paul, you've got guts making nekked corn bread. We'll see who the purists are.
