OK guys, my b-day is tommorrow and the wife asks me what I want.
(besides, well, you know:biggrin:)

I want an Alton Brown cookbook.

I don't have any and I've never opened one so I don't know what they are like.
I know they have to be good because, well, he's AB.:-D

I have about 30 or 40 other cookbooks but none by AB.

Which one of his books would you suggest for a 1st read and why?
Any to stay away from?

Keep in mind that I don't need intro stuff.
Got PLENTY of that.

Thanks

I have "I'm just here for the food" or something like that. It's a real basics on methods of cooking, I'd pass on it.

Come on! The "besides" was for her to turn the pages of the book.

I have one of his cookbooks.....dont recall the title of it.
My favorite is his history on cd/videos of Feasting on Ashphalt. I have his first 2 years of his Cd's
Love to listen to this man talk.

He has one on kitchen gadgets, cant remember the title.
I'm just here for the food ( various recipes, don;t remember any Que recipes)
I'm just here for more food ( baked recipes )
He just released a book on the feasting on asphalt, River Run. ( not sure on any recipes, don;t have it yet.
He also has several recipes in a best of food network cookbook.

I use recipes from food and more food all the time.

Thanks Guys!

The big 44 tommorrow!

Sometimes I feel like I'm 24 and sometimes I feel like I'm 84.:oops::roll:

She cooks BBQ?

:twisted:Besides, well, you know, can be mighty nice on it's own, for your B-Day!!!!
Have a Happy One!!!!!:-D

Yeah, that's true.
Better not be too greedy!

After reading the descriptions and reviews on Amazon, I think I am going to try the 1st two books and see how it goes.

Baking is a definate weakness in my culinary skills.

I don't have any AB cookbooks, but if you want to work on your baking I would highly recommend books by Rose Levy Beranbaum. She has written The Cake Bible, The Pie and Pastry Bible and The Bread Bible, and we have all three. She not only tells you HOW to bake stuff; she tells you the WHY of baking.

And I just stumbled onto her blog at: http://www.realbakingwithrose.com/
