Anyone going to this or ever been there? I was thinking about making the haul, my older daughter has off from school so I figured I would rent an rv and head down.
 
Great contest

I went to that contest for a couple of years because my older daughter was going to college near there (Guilford) and she and I would do the contest. Well run, lots of teams, great car show. Sometimes it gets a little cold at night, be prepared for that just in case. Very nice contest.

I'll be there. I've never been before, but I've heard that its a very cooker-friendly contest.
 
If I can get my contract agency in Charlotte to approve me to drive down rather than fly down I am going to enter.....I did the contest last year, it is a well oiled machine....crowds are great, and the competition is guaranteed to be tough......
come on down.......will be more than happy to share things learned from last year there...
 
I have not been to Shelby, but it has an excellent reputation down here.

Yes, it is a very good event.

Hearsay has it that there was someone there last year that had some magic mojo early Saturday morning and some of the teams did rather well after drinking some of it....:rolleyes:

If you get the chance, you need to do it at least once. I would be going to help out Screamin Nite Hog BBQ again, but I will be finishing packing to leave out the following Tuesday evening for a FL trip to cook.

Be sure and check the weather right before you go, as it can be very COLD (where all of the water froze a couple of years ago), or nice (short sleeve t-shirt weather) like it was last year.

I think you need to be there with your coffee... It worked well for me last time in Rocky Mount. :biggrin:

Ahhhhhh...magic coffee!

Shelby is a great contest and always full of good comp teams! This will be our 5th year there...it's run well and the last comp of the year for a lot of us Southern Teams. Flavor profile...bring the sweet heat!
 
Not going to be able to compete, but, since I am going to be stationed in Asheville I will be attempting to come pit B if needed

We have retired our coffee pot and reassigned it to competition duty. It will be there with us at the Bayou Poker Smokers spot. Will be keeping it full of fresh brewed Community Coffee Dark Roast. Ya'll stop in for a shot or two.
